  1. SİNOPALE BEGINS

August 1, 2017: Sinop Municipality Former Hal Building (Sinop Hal Meeting Center)

Meeting with volunteers who will be working in planning and activities in regards to Sinopale.

Volunteers willing to work at the activities are assigned with tasks and an infrastructure for workshop activities is formed.

August 12-18, 2017:

Workshops will start which will be held with women, children and adults from Sinop in different locations run by curators Prof. T. Melih Görgün (Sinop), Prof. Nike Baetzner and Jonatan Habib Enqvist (Sweden) as well as artists Sophie Baumgaertner, Aylin  Çakıner, Uygar Demoğlu, Ayşe Erkmen, Cevdet Erek, Philippe van Eetvelt, Wilhelm Frederking, Mürteza Fidan, Ulrike Grossarth, Frank Hagen, İpek Hamzaoğlu, Murat Haschu, Kristina Heinrichs, Susanne Hopmann, Nil İlkbaşaran, Christian Jankowski, Sebastian Körbs, Volkan Kızıltunç, Maria Lantz, leavinghomefunktion: Anne Knoedler, Johannes Foetsch, Elisabeth Oertel, Effy Zeniou, Kaupo Holmberg, Ulrike Mohr, Oliver Müller, Emre Okçuer, Dr. Işın Önol, Raluca Popa, Bella Rune, Ginan Seidl, Maria Sezer, Esther Suarez Ruiz, Youssef Tabti and Mahir Namur participating Sinopale arriving in Sinop on different dates until September 17.

An average of 6-10 people will participate in these workshops .

  1. SİNOPALE EXHIBITION

August 19 – September 17, 2017 – Sinopale Exhibition:

Location: Sinop Municipality Former Buzhane Building

Time: 18.30

This exhibition opening may host an average of 400-500 (local and international) invited guests .

Selected works of art created and produced by 3 curators and 32 artists in Sinop will be presented to the attention of visitors at this exhibition. These works of art made of different and various materials are created based on stories from Sinop with the participation of people of Sinop.

It is important to nourish and develop an awareness for urbanity for Sinopale. Sinopale 6 program includes exhibitions by various artists, art collectives, designers, people of culture from several different countries as well as workshops for children, film screenings, activities with artisans, urban applications and conceptual workshops, documentarial exhibitions and a forum. This year’s main exhibition titled “Aktarım / Transposition” is prepared to take place in several different locations to include Sinop Former Ice Factory – Buzhane, Chamber of Architects Building, Sinop Hal Meeting Center, Dr. Rıza Nur Library.

3) SİNOPALE FORUM

August 20, 2017 – “Sinopale Forum”:

Location: Sinop Hal Meeting Center

Time:  13.00-18.00

There will be simultaneous interpretation in Turkish and English.

This year’s Sinopale Forum (http://forum.sinopale.org/) discussing several different situations such as remembering our values, transferring them to future generations, creating new stories, remembering our urban heritage again and contemplating on it also by drawing attention to our city’s international visibility too just like in the forums held in previous years, will be held with a content in context to our vision to reveal our city’s potentials and values and share them.

As our youth raised in Sinop show great attention in Sinopale which becomes a major reference field for them, also concludes workshops which allows them to breed their potentials raising it to a much higher level.

4)SİNOPALE WORKSHOPS

CITY AND CITIZENSHIP WORKSHOPS

These workshops are the most essential parts of the activity. These workshops which continue since 2006 are based on the idea of handling and focusing on cultural heritage of Sinop and sharing it with young generations. For example “Breath of Sinop” Glass Blowing Workshop held in previous years brought people of Sinop together for two years in a row who are from different counties and cities and it was held to draw attention to Glass industry which was very essential in Sinop in the past. This year’s workshops will be supported by ÇEKÜL and UNESCO Turkey National Committee. The negotiations on the matter continues between Sinopale team and the relevant institutions.

August 13-18 – “Kitchen Workshop:

Location: Sinop Hal Meeting Center

Time: 12.00- 14.00- 18.00-21.00

An average of 6-10 people will participate in this workshop.

Economy, Culture and Art meet in Food. This workshop conducted by Mahir Namur will focus on creating a contribution in Sinop’s food culture and remembering the existing values once more. This work planned to get acquainted with Sinop’s culinary culture and come up with new recipes is for children, young people and adults. Artists and designers will also contribute and supoport this workshop.

August 15- 17, Sinop Hal Meeting Center

August 21-24, Sinop Hal Meeting Center

Time: 10.30-13.00, Ceramics Workshop

An average of 6-10 people will participate in this workshop.

“Ceramics Workshop”: The conductor of the workshop, Çağla Sönmez Çakır is raised in Sinop. The goal of this workshop is to use Sinop’s fertile and unique soil to develop works of ceramics, transfer product development knowledge and help the participants to improve their manual skills.

August 25-26, “Archeological Textile Workshop”:

Location: Sinop Hal Meeting Center

Time: 11.00-16.00

An average of 6-10 people will participate in this workshop.

Günay Atalayer (Marmara University, Member of Faculty of Fine Arts ) and Ebru Dikmen Varol, Gül Gündüz, Hale Çelik Hekim continues the research work with her team on woven textile excavated in Balatlar Excavation site currently ongoing in Sinop. In the woven textile workshop, she will share her knowledge of different methodologies of “weaving” as our cultural heritage with young people and women by using the knowledge of the archeological dig and connecting it to woven textile which still continues to exist in Sinop in a limited fashion.

August 25-30, 2017: “Bees and Children Workshop”:

Location: Sinop Hal Meeting Center

Time: 10.00-23.00

An average of 15-20 children will participate in this workshop.

This workshop will be conducted by artists Nil İlkbaşaran-Maria Sezer-Güngör Erdem. This workshop will be held in cooperation wih Sinop Association of Beekepers. Artist Güngör Erdem is raised in Sinop as Nil İlkbaşaran’s family roots lie in Sinop too. Artist Maria Sezer is known for her radio shows aired on bees recently. This workshop is planned to teach participants of children at the age of 10-14 on bees and beekeeping. Besides the goal is to let them think on the continuity of their living space. The speeches that will be held in the context of this workshop include invited experts such as Prof. Muhsin Diyaroğlu. The results of this activity will be presented at 45th World Beekeping Congress to be held in October in Istanbul.

September 07-08, 2017 – “Once Upon A Time Sinop Was In Fairy Tales

September 7, Sinop Hal Meeting Center

The location for the fairy tales presentation will be announced later.

Time: 10.00-17.00

An average of 12-16 people will participate in this workshop.

“Once Upon A Time Sinop Was In Fairy Tales” Fairytale Telling Workshop (In collaboration with Bütün Çocuklar Bizim Derneği). The workshop lecturer Nazlı Azazi will help us remember this activity which we have forgotten in the recent years. Fairytale telling activity participated by grandmothers will be an activity where we will remember the forgotten cultural values.

September 07-09, 2017 “Sound Workshop – Sounds of Sinop”:

Location: Science and Art Center, Sinop Hal Meeting Center

Time: 10.00-17.00

An average of 10-12 people will participate in this workshop.

The workshop will be conducted by Tuba Sönmez (Sinop Science and Art Center), Emre Okçuer (artist), Enis Gümüş (İstanbul Bilgi University Faculty Member). The goal of this workshop is to collect Sinop’s unique sounds and compose a piece of music based on them to teach our young ones the methodology on how to use the abstract sources in their own city. The musical piece composed as a result of this workshop will be shared with an audience accompanied by a performance. This workshop welcomes participants at the age of 12-16.

September 7 – 8, Art Therapy Workshop with Kids

Location: Sinop, Hal Meeting Center

Time: 13.30 – 15.30

An average of 10 to 15 children will be participating in this workshop.

Art therapy , make use of the art events that anyone of any age can participate in, for rehabilitation. Thus, it is the externalisation of emotions through art. In other words, the art is used as a tool. Tuba Kınay Gör, Asst. Prof. from Sinop University, aims to be a guide for participants, who fear, abstain from or suppress their inner worlds or emotions, through art, sketching, painting, sculpting. There is no verbal communication with the participants, kids can spontaneously draw as they wish. They would not be interested with the aesthetic quality of the works, rather the content of picture, production process and method are what really matter.

September 13-15, Orff Instruments Workshop with Kids

Location: Sinop, Hal Meeting Centre

Time: 13.00-14.00

An average of 5 to 6 children from 8 – 11 ages will be participating in this workshop.

The workshop, which will be led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Esra Yücesan, consists of a series of events which will take place daily on 13 and 14 September. Within the workshop orff approach will behold and fishery and mantı, which are local values of the city, will be taken as the theme. Implementations that holds this approach will be shaped according to these themes. Musical achievements will be explained within the events.

5) SİNOPALE FILM FESTIVAL

August 25-31, Sinopale Film Festival

Location: Sinop Hal Meeting  Merkezi

Time: 21.00-23.00

These screenings will have an average of 50-60 people.

This is an international program coordinated by Yusuf Emre Yalçın. Emre Yalçın, a young director raised in Sinop has become reknown in the international arena thanks to his first feature-length documentary film “Tarzan Kemal: An Urbaneer Story” he shot based on his experience he got at Sinopale Oral History and Documentary Film Workshops. 2. Sinopale Film Festival directed by Yalçın which is contributed by film lovers of Sinop, will feature a selection of films from the archives of international culture and art institutions. The festival will also feature a selection of films from Turkey, Algeria, Kosovo, Germany, Palestine, Austuria and France.
