The performance installation Crossing Wonderland by Nezaket Ekici converts a dream picture into reality. The artist maintains an artificial flower garden from genuine arms and hands. The Hands reach out of a specially designed platform into the sky. Only the arms and hands of the people in the construction can be seen.

Replacing the flowers by genuine hands leads to an absurd and surreal scene, which captivates the viewer and pulls him into a dream world. The viewer oscillates between reality and dreams back and forth. The artist fights against the hands becoming tired and falling after some time. She helps them to stand up again and maintain their position. The performance installation unfolds the character of a sustainable world, we seem to have lost. The artist shows, what will be needed to shape our future. We need to understand, that we have to care for the nature surrounding us and also, we have to understand, that we are a part of nature, that has to be taken care of. We have lost the sense of an untouched and functioning nature and we need to regain this.

Instead of caring for real plants, she cares for hands and arms with the intention to remind us, where we come from: from a nature, that stabilizes itself and that is a part of a sustainable cosmos. The ancient philosopher Plato said once „Cosmos is the beautiful and given order“ (Timaios). We have to find back the trust in the good and given order, we are a part of.
