Burning Horizon no:1
2023
Single-channel video installation, 19'30'', HD, color, silent, 2/5 edition
The video Burning Horizon no:1 combines the elements of air, water, and the line of fire that lies between them within a single landscape, offering a striking glimpse into our future. Inspired by the artist's "desire to burn everything" following a profound personal loss, the video was created in a surreal seascape where the artist retreated into solitude. The work also highlights the intersection between humanity's historical gaze upon the landscape and its experience of it. In other words, Burning Horizon no:1 seeks to portray the horizon line within the uncertain boundaries of the future.
This installation, created using analog methods, evokes the intertwined stories that landscapes carry, illuminating the enduring human journey against the backdrop of a constantly shifting horizon. In this landscape, the viewer sees the sea as the central element of today's greatest challenge—the global climate crisis. In this sense, the scene serves as a document representing the era known as the "Age of Fire."
