Evrim Kavcar

Evrim Kavcar born in 1976, Istanbul. Working mainly with sculpture, video animation and drawing, Evrim Kavcar is a visual artist interested in transforming some moments of encounter in daily life into the imaginative. With an inclination towards another perception and the fantastic, in recent years there was a rise in her encounters with animals. For example, in he days she believed everything could fly, a fly appears: a dead fly stuck by the wing in the crack of a wooden table. “Gregor”, the broken snail who was born out of a crushing sound beneath her feet, “Esteban” who was born of two consecutive encounters with two dead sewage rats; these carry a point of view that has family tie to the magical realism in literature. She has been a resident artist in Borusan Art Center between 2010 -2012. She has just come back from working with kids at a primary school in Uganda, Africa. In December she will be Soundbody Art Lab’s guest artist in “Dying Eye” Project in Taiwan.
